Korean popular culture has become one of the most beloved pop cultures among Asian fans over the last 10 years (1). Maybe all of us know the song “nobody” by the wonder girls; it is one of the well known song here in the Philippines. Even though when the people try to sing the song, it is like a tongue twister.  The koreanovela is also famous here in the Philippines. The Korea became well known for their soap operas. The first koreanovela aired in the Philippine TV is the bright girl in GMA.

After how many years, the koreanovelas became more popular, causing most of the dramas or soap operas in both networks are Korean until the running out of the Filipino drama.

Not only the koreanovela loved by the Filipinos but also their music also known as Korean pop or their pop culture. This Korean pop culture or k-pop for short is also loved by the Filipinos. A very good example is the song nobody by the wonder girls.

This research paper will let you know why Filipinos love the Korean culture, fashion, food, music, and show business and even their language, business, sports etc.

A.         PLACES WHERE THE KOREAN WAVE CAN FEEL

Not only the Philippines loved the Korean wave but also some other Southeast Asian country like Taiwan, Vietnam, China, Hong Kong,  Thailand etc.  They embraced the Korean culture, tradition, music, fashion, language, they are attracted to Koreans. It is like high tide of the Korean wave.

The Korean Wave, is a socio-cultural phenomenon taking place across Asia, such as China, Taiwan, Hong Kong, Japan, the Philippines, Thailand, Indonesia, Vietnam, and even Russia and Mexico.

B.          WHAT IS A KOREAN WAVE?

The Korean wave or Korea fever refers to the significantly increased popularity of South Korean culture around the world since the 21st century, especially among young girls from the Millennial Generation(2).

I think the Korean Wave is absolutely one of the greatest things South Korea has going. Hallyu has brought increased interest in and favorable disposition towards Korean popular culture, such as TV drama, movie, and music. Currently, the preference for Korean culture has expanded from merely popular culture to Korean lifestyles in general, including food, fashion, tourism (3).

C.         FASHION

For me the Korea has the best fashion. They can combine a bunch of accessories having a preppy look. Some Filipinos try to imitate their fashion style but they always kinda look “jologs” or “baduy”. Their fashion is colorful they use bright colors that are very attractive like yellow, red, purple, bright green etc. Even the boys there in Korea are using some of the girls stuff like some sweater that only for girls but still it looks good. They know how to carry the clothes they wearing. That is the style we want to imitate, I really want that look that wearing too many accessories without looking “baduy”. Maybe fashion is also loved by the Filipinos. Fashion is one of the Korean wave that waved also some other country.
